Black and yellow garden spider (Argiope aurantia) finds ant in its web and wraps it in silk extruded from spinnerettes located at the end of its abdomen. This species is common throughout much of the U.S., southern Canada, Mexico, and Central America. As their name suggests, these spiders are often found in gardens. They can reach 75 mm across and are harmless to people.
