The Essex skipper (Thymelicus lineola) butterfly is a member of the Hesperiidae family. A small orange butterfly that is easily confused with another species the Small Skipper and often found in the same locations. It is identifiable by the tips of the antennae being completely black as if dipped in a pot of ink. The larvae feed on grasses such as Couch and Cock's-foot. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in September. | |
