Erythema multiforme on the face of a 6 year old female patient. Erythema multiforme is a skin disorder that is typically caused by an infection or some medicines but some cases occur for no obvious reason. This case was triggered by a Group A streptococcus bacteria infection. The main symptom is a rash of round, slightly raised spots. The rash usually gets better on its own within a few weeks. However, erythema multiforme can also be severe, affecting the mucous membranes, which typically requires more extensive treatment. Treatment usually depends on the underlying cause of the condition. Moisturisers and steroid creams can be used to manage symptoms. | |
