Illustration of the French physicist Alain Aspect (born 1947). Aspect is best known for his work on quantum entanglement, where two particles appear to be linked across space and time. Changes to one of the particle affects the other one, regardless of their distance from each other. In the early 1980s he carried out a ground-breaking experiment, now known as Aspect's experiment, using entangled photons that confirmed the underlying quantum mechanics. He received a share of the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics for this work along with John F. Clauser and Anton Zeilinger. | |
