Pair of yellow-billed oxpeckers (Buphagus africanus) at their nesting hole in the breeding season. Yellow-billed oxpeckers eat insects and ticks and it is estimated that an adult will consume more than 100 engorged female Boophilus decoloratus ticks or 13, 000 larvae. Photographed in the Kruger National Park, South Africa, in summer. | |
