Hypopigmentation on the knuckles of a 42 year old Hispanic female patient after cryotherapy to treat warts. Warts are caused by infection with a human papilloma virus (HPV). It leads to mass production of skin in a localised area, producing the characteristic appearance of a wart. Cryotherapy uses liquid nitrogen to kill and freeze the wart. A side effect of the treatment may be loss of normal colouration (hypopigmentation) of the skin. | |
