Examples of United Nations Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals warning symbols that can be found on product labels TOP LINE 1. Serious health hazard 2. Flammable 3. Explosive MIDDLE LINE 4. Toxic 5. Harmful/irritant 6. Oxidising BOTTOM LINE 7. Corrosive 8.Dangerous to the environment 9. Gas under pressure. The GHS symbols were adopted as standard in the EU and much of the world since 2015. EU law requires that any chemical placed on the market in Europe must have the hazards clearly communicated to workers and consumers. This is done through the classification and labelling of the product. The main reason was to have a globally harmonised system of labelling. As well as a change in label design the hazard descriptions have been updated and improved. | |
