Hubble Space Telescope (HST) image of the planet Saturn obtained June 2019. The planet Saturn has a diameter of around 120, 000 kilometres, and has a spectacular ring system. It orbits the Sun at a mean distance of around 1400 million kilometres. The relative motion of Saturn and Earth around the Sun produces different views of the tilted ring system, with this relatively open view occurring near opposition (the closest approach to Earth). A Saturn year lasts 29 Earth years. Image obtained by HSTâ??s Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3). | |
