Wahoo (Acanthocybium solandri) often have large stomach flukes (Hirudinella ventricosa) in their stomachs. Some biologists speculate that the Wahoo and this fluke have more to their relationship than a simple parasitism. The hypothesis is derived from the fact that nearly all Wahoo caught have at least one or two, sometimes three, flukes in their stomachs and few other stomach parasites. Little of this relationship has been studied and much remains to be understood. The wahoo was caught on hook and line at the surface in the Gulf of Mexico, May 2017.
