The Purplish Treefrog (Boana nympha) has a common name that stems from the vaguely purple color some individuals have at night. Most specimens bear a distinctive X across the back. These are agile treefrogs that can clear an impressive distance with a single leap. They feed on small invertebrates and are active at night. Eggs can be seen through the side of this adult female. This specimen was photographed in Amazonian Peru in 2017. | |
