Native copper is pure copper that occurs as a natural mineral. Copper is one of the few metallic elements that can occur purely in native form, although it most commonly occurs in oxidized states and mixed with other elements. The specimen here seen has a dendritic habitat, corroded on the surface. Provenance is the Calumet mine in northern Michigan. Actual width of specimen is 180 mm. | |
