Neutron star in supernova remnant E0102-72.3, composite image. This supernova remnant was produced by a massive star that exploded in a nearby galaxy called the Small Magellanic Cloud. It is 200, 000 light years away, in the constellation of Tucana. The neutron star left behind is off-centre, seen as the blue dot within the red area at lower centre. The image combines visible light data (red and green) from the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) and the Very Large Telescope (VLT), and X-ray data (blue) from the Chandra X-ray Observatory (CXO).
