The flame trench beneath Launch Complex 39B at Kennedy Space Center, Florida, being prepared for the launch of NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) rocket. This launch pad was used previously for the Saturn V Moon rockets and, later, the Space Shuttle fleet. The rockets sit above the trench, which channels the launch vehicle exhaust gases safely away; an angled flame deflector can be seen at the far end of the flame trench. | |
