Large endocrine cells with a few endocrine-type granules and two zymogen granules that are identical to the zymogen granules in the neighbouring acinar cell that is separated from the endocrine cell by double-layered thin membrane. The endocrine cell presents a large number of mitochondria. The finding highlights the potential of islet cells to also produce digestive enzyme. TEM, 1, 750.
