Aluminium reacts with lead (II) nitrate. Aluminium metal (Al) coil was immersed into a test tube containing 0.25 M solution of lead (II) nitrate (Pb (NO3)2). Since aluminium is more reactive than lead, a single-displacement reaction occurred: Al + Pb (NO3)2 -> Pb + Al (NO3)3. The reaction proceeded very slowly since aluminium was protected by the aluminium oxide (Al2O3) layer. After a day, only small specs of lead were formed on aluminium coil. | |
