City water supply contamination response. Volunteers from the Red Cross and Parchment High School, Michigan, USA, distributing bottled water to residents after high concentrations of PFAS (perfluorinated alkylated substances) were found in the city's drinking water. PFAS is a family of chemicals widely used in firefighting foam, waterproofing for clothing, and many other products. Exposure has been linked to a variety of serious diseases. PFAS levels were found to be twenty times higher than what is considered safe. Photographed in Parchment, Michigan, USA, in July 2018. | |
