Sociable weavers (Philetairus socius) at their nest. The sociable weaver builds large communal nests. Up to 400 birds can inhabit a single nest, which provides shelter from the extreme temperatures of their savannah habitat. The nest is thatched (not woven) from grass, straw and twigs.
