Cape turtle doves (Streptopelia capicola) drinking water from the edge of a watering hole. These birds inhabit savannah, grassland and woodland in south and eastern Africa. They are usually found in small groups, but may form large flocks around food sources and drinking water. They mainly feed on seeds, but will also take insects. Photographed in the Kalahari regions of South Africa and Botswana. | |
