Cooled lava flow from Kilauea volcano eruption of May to August 2018. This lava flow destroyed over 700 homes in the Puna District and created hundreds of acres of new land when it met the Pacific Ocean. At bottom right is a sprouting coconut, used as a marker on a foot trail that has been made through the sharp-edged lava. Photographed in October 2018, in Pahoa, Hawaii. | |
