Ross 128 b is the second-closest known rocky exoplanet - the closest being the planet orbiting Proxima Centauri. Ross 128 b orbits within the habitable zone of its red dwarf star, Ross 128. Unlike the red dwarf Proxima Centauri, Ross 128 is considered relatively quiet it lacks the former s violent flaring activity. As such, astronomers believe Ross 128 b a good candidate for habitability. It is 35 percent more massive than Earth and receives 38 percent more starlight. This image imagines the planet to be covered in water. | |
