Lysias (c.445 BC-c.380 BC), Ancient Greek orator. Lysias, whose family was from Syracuse (on Sicily), spent time in southern Italy, later settling in and working in Athens in Greece. Lysias is considered one of the ten Attic orators. After fleeing a Spartan-controlled Athens in 404 BC, he worked as a logographer, a writer of speeches to be delivered in law courts.
