Apollo 12 lunar landing training. US astronaut Charles 'Pete' Conrad, commander of the Apollo 12 lunar landing mission, piloting a Lunar Landing Training Vehicle (LLTV) during a simulation flight at Ellington Air Force Base, Houston, Texas, USA. The LLTV is used to train Apollo crews in lunar landing techniques. Apollo 12 took place from 14-24 November 1969. It was the second manned mission to land on the Moon, with Conrad and Alan Bean descending to the lunar surface on 19 November 1969. The third crew member, Richard Gordon, remained in lunar orbit in the command module. Photographed on 25 October 1969. | |
