Spider wasp (family Pompilidae). Spider wasps are solitary wasps. Their long legs have hooked claws for grappling with their prey. A female wasp will catch a spider and paralyse it with her sting. She then takes it back to her nest where she lays an egg on the spider's abdomen. The egg hatches and the wasp larva feeds on the still-living spider. | |
