Kathryn D. Sullivan, US astronaut. Kathryn D. Sullivan (born 1951), American geologist and crew member on three Space Shuttle missions, was the first woman to perform extravehicular activity (EVA) during Space Shuttle Challenger mission STS-41-G on October 11, 1984. She was a crew member of mission STS-31, when the Hubble Space Telescope was deployed. She has since worked at the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). | |
