Cane toad, or giant toad, (Rhinella marina). This toad, which is native to South America, was introduced to Australia to control sugar cane pests. Without natural predators it has multiplied out of control, killing many native species who ingest the animals and are poisoned by the exudate from their skin. Photographed in Suriname. | |
