Blood pressure monitor. Results from a digital blood pressure monitor (sphygmomanometer). The results are obtained by the use of an inflatable cuff (not seen) inflated and deflated around a patient's upper arm. The output screen displays the pulse rate and blood pressure readings. A typical healthy reading is 120/80 millimetres of mercury for systolic and diastolic blood pressure readings. Here, the systolic value is slightly high, indicating a degree of hypertension (high blood pressure). For most adults, a healthy resting heart rate is 60-100 beats per minute (bpm). | |
