| Tesla's East Houston Street laboratory. Interior view of the laboratory operated at 46-48 East Houston Street, New York, USA, by Serb-US physicist and electrical engineer Nikola Tesla (1856-1943). He carried out research here from 1895 to 1902. In the background is a spiral secondary transformer. Also present are a resonant transformer, and an induction motor with an egg-shaped rotor. Tesla's research led to key advances in areas such as alternating current power generation and transmission. A type of transformer is named for him (the Tesla Coil), as is the SI unit of magnetic flux density. | |
