The Shenzhou-1 re-entry module on display at the China Science and Technology Museum in Beijing, China. This is a flown capsule as evidenced by the charring at the top and particularly around the docking ring that joined the three-man capsule to the orbital module. It was launched on an unmanned mission on 20 November 1999, by a Long March 2F, and orbited the Earth 14 times before landing in Inner Mongolia. The Shenzhou is very similar in design to the Russian Soyuz. | |
