Dementia is a general term for conditions that lead to changes in a person's ability to think, remember and function. The symptoms include memory loss, personality changes and confusion. Adaptations in kitchens for those with dementia include clear kettles and double-handed cups. This kitchen is part of the Kilmarnock Resource Centre, in Ayrshire, Scotland. This centre includes community-based support for those with a diagnosis of dementia, both under and over the age of 65. The resource centre offers a wide variety of groups and activities, as well as support from a dementia advisor and a dementia social worker. Photographed in 2016. | |
