American mink (Mustela vison) in a hole on gravel deposits. American (or Eastern) mink live near streams, rivers and lakes, provided there is sufficient cover, where they hunt rodents, fish and crustaceans by night. They are found in much of the USA and Canada. However they have also been introduced to Europe and Asia where they are farmed for their valuable pelts. Photographed in southern Montana,USA | |
