NASA deep space network. Spacecraft-tracking radio antennae at Tidbinbilla near Canberra,Australia, that form part of the NASA deep space network (DSN). At lower left is a dish antenna 70 metres (230 feet) in diameter, the largest antenna at the Tidbinbilla station. At lower centre & upper right are two 34 metre antenna. There is also a 26 metre antenna at this station. Together they provide a radio link to track spacecraft that take part in deep space interplanetary missions,or track satellites orbiting the earth. Apart from this DSN station in Australia,NASA has identical stations in Spain and the USA. Combined these stations provide continuous 24 hour tracking of spacecraft | |
