One of the two solid booster rockets veers out of control following the explosion that destroyed the space shuttle Challenger on January 28,1986. The disaster occurred 73 seconds after lift-off as a result of a failure of one of the O-rings in a seal on one of the booster rockets. A subsequent leakage of fuel triggered the explosion which killed all seven crew members. Picture ref. 1-86-51L-10185 | |
