Sunset. Rays of light fanning out across the sky during sunset. These crepuscular rays are caused when sunlight is partially blocked by hills or clouds after the Sun has sunk below the horizon. The rays can be seen because the light is scattered by particles in the air. The rays do not converge, but appear to do so because of the effect of distance.
