| Thermal spring. Warm water flowing out of the ground and down a slope covered in plants. This is a thermal spring formed after the damming of a nearby river. The Lac de Salanfe,located in Valais,Switzerland,formed behind a dam built in the 1950s. It was found that large quantities of water were being lost into the ground,and that there was an increase in seismic activity in the area.
