Rhodesia man skull. This skull was found at Broken Hill (Kabwe),Zambia,in 1921. It is thought to be around 120,000 years old. Its classification in unclear,with some regarding it as a late Homo erectus and others as an early Homo sapiens. H. erectus was the most widespread of the hominids (human relatives) apart from modern humans. It lived between 1.6-0.3 million years ago,and fossils have been found throughout Africa,Europe and Asia. Some classify the finds as different species based on their location.
