St. Helens volcano,Washington State,USA,during the second eruption on 22nd July 1980,two months after the first major blast of May 18th. Deep dendritic gullies,caused by pyroclastic flow,(a thick soup of hot gas & ash spilling over the brim of the volcano,or mudflows from glacial melt) trace their way down the mountainside. Mt.
