This image was gathered by the second Space Radar Laboratory (SRL-2) during Shuttle Mission STS-68 of 30 September to 11 October 1994. San Francisco is in the peninsula at top right. At right is San Francisco Bay,at left is the Pacific Ocean. The San Andreas fault runs along the valley parallel to the left side of the frame. Two large lakes lie in this valley,the San Andreas Lake (just left of centre) and Crystal Springs Reservoir (lower left of centre). Earthquakes along the fault are a constant threat to the city | |
