Scrub hare (Lepus saxatilis). The scrub hare is found in southern Africa,in Namibia and South Africa. It is mainly found on rocky or stony ground covered with grass and scrub. The ears of the scrub hare are large and well suited to efficiently capture and locate sounds. This enables them to take notice of potential threats, notably from predators. In hot climates, large ears offer the hare an additional benefit. Due to their large surface area, the ears serve to disperse excess body heat.
