Dingo Gap on Mars. Satellite image of an area on Mars visited by the Mars Exploration Rover Curiosity. The rover, exploring Gale Crater, crossed a saddle ('Dingo Gap') between two valleys. The saddle is spanned by a single dune (upper left) and is visible from the ground (see C023/5796) and from orbit. The route taken by the rover entered this area from just right of top centre, reaching Dingo Gap in January and February 2014. This image, published in 2014,was obtained by the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) instrument on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) satellite. Image obtained before Curiosity had traversed the area | |
