Ignition magneto. Historical illustration of a magneto used for car ignition systems. Known as an ignition magneto,it provides pulses of high voltage for the spark plugs of certain internal combustion engines such as petrol engines. This design is from the Lavalette-Eiseman company and has an advanced helical groove feature. Ignition magnetos were widely used from the 1900s onwards. See illustrations C023/5308,C023/5309,and C023/5310 for this magneto in car engines and a balloon.
