ASACUSA experiment at CERN. ASACUSA (Atomic Spectroscopy And Collisions Using Slow Antiprotons) is an experiment that compares matter and antimatter using atoms of antiprotonic helium and antihydrogen. It obtains antiprotons from the Antiproton Decelerator and decelerates them with the Radio Frequency Decelerator. A unique magnetic field configuration (the 'cusp' trap) is used to study the hyperfine structure of antihydrogen. The ASACUSA experiment also studies the properties of matter-antimatter collisions. After a decade of preparation,ASACUSA officially came online in 2014. Photographed on 16 January 2014 | |
