These 2D surfaces of regular polygons are known as the net of the polyhedron (or polyhedral nets). At upper left is a regular tetrahedron,formed from a net of four triangles. Next to this is a cube,formed from a net of six squares. The octahedron next to the cube is a net of eight triangles. At top right is a dodecahedron,with its net of twelve pentagons at lower centre.
