Six African-American generations. Five African-American women and a baby, dressed in late-19th century clothing, representing six generations of the same family. This family, from Selma,Alabama,USA,was photographed circa 1893. Like other neighbouring states,Alabama at the time had a large African-American population descended from slaves freed in the 1860s. The African-American population did not achieve full emancipation until the civil rights movements of the 1960s. As of 2010,the verified world record for a multi-generation family is seven generations living at the same time | |
