Zoom into Lago Traiano, Rome, Italy. Lago Traiano, or the Trajanic Basin, is an artificial hexagonal lagoon covering 39 hectares. It was constructed in 103 AD as part of the Portus port complex of harbours and canals that connected Rome and the Tiber river with the Tyrrhenian Sea. The port handled the majority of Rome's trade for centuries. Rome is at centre at the start of the clip, and is some 30 kilometres northeast of the ancient port.
