Wide angle aerial view of the caldera at the summit of Kilauea volcano featuring Halemaumau crater filled with a lava lake. The surface of the lake is crossed with lava seams that separate sections of hardened crust. A spatter source of churning lava can be seen along the perimeter of the lake in this view. The crater was approximately 800 meters across when filmed here just prior to its collapse in May 2018, after which it nearly doubled in size and lost its lava.
