Male Cape buffalo (Syncerus caffer caffer) chewing the cud at night. Cape buffaloes appear docile but they can be extremely dangerous, which resulted in them being included in the Big Five category of African Wildlife. The big five are the animals hunters universally regard as the most dangerous animals to hunt. The horns of Cape buffaloes have fused bases, forming a continuous bone shield across the top of the head referred to as a boss . The males often form small bachelor herds. Filmed in Zimanga private game reserve, Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. | |
