Close up of a panther chameleon's (Furcifer pardalis) using its tongue to catch prey. Chameleon's eyes can rotate giving a full 360-degree arc of vision around their body. Both eyes can be focused in the same direction, and the eyelids are fused forming a small hole just large enough for the pupil to see through. This gives sharp stereoscopic vision and depth perception, letting chameleons see small insects from a long distance. Filmed in the Palmarium reserve in eastern Madagascar. | |
