Madagascar hoopoe (Upupa marginata) preening itself on a branch, and occasionally raising its crest. It raises its crest when it is unsettled or startled. The Madagascar hoopoe inhabits the dry forests of Madagascar. It is closely related to the widely-distributed hoopoes found across Eurasia and sub-Saharan Africa. It feeds mainly on insects, but will also take small reptiles, frogs and some plant material. Filmed in Kirindy Reserve, Madagascar. | |
