Operated by the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, this building is home to the Millennium Seed Bank Partnership, which is an international effort aimed at safeguarding tens of thousands of plant species from around the world. The building offers space to store millions of seed samples, as well as advanced seed research and processing facilities. The Wellcome Trust Millennium Building was opened in 2000. As of 2015, it has nearly 2 billion seeds stored, representing around 13 percent of the world's wild plant species. | |
