Fruit quality control robot testing pears. This prototype robot is designed to carry out non-destructive automated quality control testing of fruits and vegetables. It uses a laser and hyper-spectral infrared sensor to test the interior of the fruit. The values are compared against a spectral curve model of a perfectly ripe fruit. The robot also uses a standard colour camera to locate and pick the fruit. This robot (a Gibas Universal Robot) was announced in 2016 and is being developed at Wageningen University and Research in the Netherlands. | |
